Voltage Droop

As per Wikipedia,

Voltage droop is the loss in output voltage from a device as it tries to drive a load.[1] Droops are typically temporary and occur due to the charging time of a capacitive load, the length of which is related to the time constant of the RC circuit. Although small amounts of voltage droop are unavoidable, there are times when voltage droop is excessive and can cause unexpected and unwanted behaviour in a circuit.

Core 2 Duo mainboard are also affected by this. If you set the Vcore to X in the BIOS, the Vcore on the CPU is ~0.6v less. Therefore it is suggested to drive it ~0.5v more than what you want. That said, it is best to apply a maximum of 1.5 to 1.6VCore (a maximum of 1.55v after VDroop). I currently have my conroe running at 1.45v in the BIOS, and plan to up this to 1.5v and see how it aids in stability and affects operational temps.
