RS232 Converters
Not sure how I forgot to post this, as I’ve soldered up a couple of these. I happen to have a fair amount of these RS232/TTL converter circuits on hand. Basically it provides the break out for TX/RX to a MCU (etc) while converting the signal to RS232 via the MAX232 IC (SMT!).
This version was ‘botched’ so it can be poked into breadboard for quick deployment:
This on has a plug connector at the back which allows for it to be fitted to the COM port on any PC (at the back) while routing a single cable into the case to perform any tasks, i.e. output to LCD, or control some circuitry…

I was tinkering in the lab a bit and came up with a nice way of saying this.... I plan on throwing in this LCD into my casemod for the conroe system and was just testing the RS232/TTL converter...
In the process of re-arranging my lab I ended up trying a few LCD apps such as LCDC and LCD-Smartie. They all suck tbh. LCDC is Matrix Orbital prop. which forces you to shell out 'big bucks' which is ...
Another successful afternoon where I launched Windows XP SP3 inside Parallels Desktop v3.0 for Mac, and connected to my MPLAB ICD2 PIC programmer. Yes, Wow! I managed to test some of the code ...
The past 48 hours have been quite a ride. I really should be heading off to sleep, but instead...here I am posting on my blog. I spent the better part of yesterday evening right until around 8-9am...
1157hrs I spent the better part of this morning tidying up the circuit (more for deployment inside the casing) and moving the conroe box to make space for some work I have to attend to. I decided ...
