Mistake by Omega?
It definitely seems that way. Some detective work that I have been pursuing for the past couple days has finally paid off.
The NASA mission logs for Apollo 11 state the following,
4:18 p.m. EDT, July 20 [2018 GMT July 20] - The craft settles down with a jolt almost like that of a jet landing on a runway. It is at an angle of no more than four or five degrees on the right side of the Moon as seen from Earth. Armstrong immediately radios Mission Control: “The Eagle has landed.”
10:56 p.m. EDT, July 21 [0256 GMT July 21] - Armstrong puts his left foot to the Moon. It is the first time in history that man has ever stepped on anything that has not existed on or originated from the Earth.
However, the Omega Speedmaster 30th Anniversary Special Edition caseback inscription reads, “Hello Houston, Tranquility Base Here. The Eagle Has Landed - July 21, 1969 02:56 GMT”.

It can be clearly seen that the back of the speedmaster has the step time and not the landing time.
