ICC Cricket World Cup 2007: Decisive Dismissal of New Zealand

Today has been another one of those good and bad days for me, and had a rough experience involving the Colombo Hilton which I will be taking up with the General Manager in the morning.

This has by far been the most intense and enjoyable match in the cricket World Cup 2007 series so far. A match-winning 100 off 104 balls by our captain Mahela put a large score on the board and even though New Zealand built up a good foundation early on [on par or better], they lost around five wickets in a couple overs…and were 180ish for 9 wickets….who drew the game out a bit, but were cleaned up pretty nicely.

Dilhara Fernando’s performance was terrible today - 20 runs in one over, quite shocking! I was quite annoyed at that Michael Atherton, he even asked Murali if he thought that he caught the ball properly - c’mon, what is he expecting the poor guy to say? We’ve all seen the replay, he caught it - there is room for doubt - but the umpire trumps all. Likewise there were a couple more bad umpiring decisions in this game - but my favourite match so far.

The 2nd Semi-Final of Australia vs. South Africa will be held in St. Lucia tomorrow and will start at the usual 13:30 UTC/14:30 BST/19:00 LK, while the finals will be on Saturday the 28th in Barbados….I say that it will be Sri Lanka vs. Australia =)

Aww Shucks Mr. Postman…

You really didn’t have to! This past weekend has had Sri Lanka celebrating the Sinhalese New Year, which means that everything comes to a halt and Colombo pretty much gets deserted. I enjoyed the quiet for once at home, and polluted the air by watching Season 1-2 of 24 with Mom…watching it at reference (75dB SPL C-weighted all round, with 85dB on the sub) is quite something else!

Mr. Postman finally came back to work after taking most of last week off and was considerate enough [yea, right...] to deliver a few packages. I’m hoping that he’ll bring the rest tomorrow. Here we have a MontresKing(MK) v4 watch leather carrying case, designed for Panerai sized watches (with a max size of 50mm dia),
