Life: Update!
Talk about neglecting my blog! Well, wot can I say, I’ve been busy.
As far as interesting goes, I’ve *also* been working on this,
…where I’m prototyping my GPS clock system. Basically once it locks onto three (3) or more satellites I receive atomic time accurate to ±50us. With some funky firmware running on the PIC it handles GMT offsets and some otherstuff. I’ve also included a bluetooth interface for remote flashing/debuging etc.
I am also hoping to incorporate this with my 10 year old percolator, which happens to be of German engineering.
A purely resistive load of 1300W, which works out to ~6A draw @ mains voltage (no messy PF to worry about!). Since there is alot of empty space in the left portion I’m hoping to pack in a GSM module, which will allow me to ’sms’ the unit and have it heat up some coffee for me by the time I return home etc 
Since the base it self receives mains voltage, to keep it clean, I’m going to pack in a mains > 12v/5v/3.3v power translation circuitry. As an attempt I modded a 16vac wallwart to get 23.6vdc off it.
This is a bit too much for my needs so I’ll rummage around the lab and see if I can find another wallwart to abuse.
